One other rider friend and I headed back up to Bramwell, WV to do a similar but not a complete rerun of the after Thanksgiving Ride Gyrene and I made last month.

We did ride the Spearhead Original Pocahontas Trail again and the second day, we rode the H/M Indian Ridge and Pocahontas Trails. At the end of the days and with the daylight we had left, we did some more exploring of the trails and roads around the ridden trails.

We did find that one of the roads that lead to Anawalt and Gary, passes about 50' from one of the northern most Spearhead Original Pocahontas trails. This will be convenient when time permitting and wanting to gain access from the Outlaw trail to Spearhead or visa-versa. We also found that a couple good donations to the Bramwell Volunteer Fire Department would bring the "Jenny" out and clean most of the film and mud off in no time. The weather was great for riding and made me look forward to the next time. Happy New Year to one and all...MD

James, you would enjoy one of these Friday through go home Sunday day, couple days of riding out of the Bramwell area. I can get Hap to go most anytime and if we can get something on that Gyrene's new manager/boss, he will make sure Terry goes also. The lodging is real inexpensive and the food is great and the riding is even better. Terry and I have stumbled on another set of cabins in that same area with easy in and out of Bramwell and the Pocahontas Trail. I can't guarantee much technical tiding in that area, but we can log some miles daily with a lot of camaraderie. Just let us know any time, as it is very close for you...MD

BandDcabinrentals.com are located off the backside of HM Pocahontas Trail and is near Bramwell, and Pocahontas, VA. I was asking a couple in a pickup about where a road led to and they told me "to our cabins" and smiled. I took their information home and Terry Gyrene emailed me before I could call him that he had heard of them also...MD

Mike , Sounds great I have some training to get nailed down on the schedule, I would like to take Harleigh and her 300 fourtrax up one weekend for a more relaxed and adventure ride, I can do both as for relaxed and Technical for fun. I taught I got off 4 weeks this year I think its next year so I might fure sure plan on driving up on a early sat morning til Sunday is an adventure. Works slowed down so I'm watching the cash flow right now but hope things pick back up soon, Keep me in mind I hope to get out of Hibernation this year some..Thanks

Bluesman, these could be a possibility if the group ride decides to ride out of Bramwell. There are several options. Terry Gyrene and a couple of rider friends can give a guided ride in a couple of directions. Also I can contact BobT and maybe he knows the trails over at Matoaka, if not I know that Bobby Duncan does. Like I said to James, not musg Technical, but a million miles could be made for several days. There are some evil black trails on the Spearhead Trails that could be played on one of the mornings or afternoon rides. This area is Ideal for about 3 days riding in 3 different directions.

Not trying to change any plans that might be in the makings, just offering a location with good clean lodging and lot's of miles to ride...MD

Mike is this the WV / VA connector trails. Will it be $50 per state if lines are crossed. I've ridden spearhead VA trails good creek rides in some of my vids. It takes me as long to get to the VA riding spearhead trails as it does to get to Keeters place up trough the mtns. About 3.5 hours or close, I like them both and am game for any style ride. I even want to get up there and rip it up on my KTM some day. like you said Miles for months of riding on the southern section now.

James, The best I can answer your questions is to say that the $50 annual permit covers any and all trails on the HM trails and connectors. The Spearhead trail is a little different in that they offer one day passes for $15. The two times I have rode the Spearhead "Original Pocahontas" Trail the lodging Lady paid $5 dollars of the $15 so it only cost us $10 for the day ride.

For us that are back many times the spending for the HM annual permit is a must for us and I can see where a person that may or may not get back in the same year might have to think hard on that one. The Spearhead trail I am making reference to is only 4 miles from Bramwell, which is actually closer to you than Hilltop, so if one decides to ride that trail, there is no trailering, you just ride the wheeler over. With the right rider guide, there are 100's of miles of Outlaw Trails in that area just like the Hilltop area, just different directions. From Bramwell to Sophia is one of the longer rides. Most leave out kind of early and go to the China Restaurant for lunch, fuel up and return for somewhat over 100 miles ride. But you have to have someone that knows the way of course. A group could spend 2 or 3 days riding the Outlaw Trails on the other side of HWY 10 and Matoaka, Herndom, and Mullens, plus all the small communities like Bud and others that I really don't know well enough yet..

Then there is West of US52, Anawalt, Gary, Miracle Mountain, Welch, and the many other smaller communities that side also. Terry Gyrene is a great "Gill Favor" for most of this ...MD

Mike, Sounds awesome, I did the Day pass at Virginia Spear head trails, we got on the trails near Bristol I think. I really Miss Calante Riding park in Mtn City TN, Loved that place riding in the snow. Hit the steep Mtns and go til the wheels stop getting traction.

It just dawned on me, I should explain the photo with the front half of the boat. This photo was taken at one of the "hot spots" along the Outlaw Trail just outside of Northfork and the Indian Ridge H/M Trail.

It is the spot where the water comes out about 6 feet from the bottom of one of the WV mountains in that area. In the spring it is usually roaring out and the rest of the time it is a steady flow that keeps the stream running through the area.

This is a photo of it when the waters were higher back in April 2015 in the area. Sorry for not explaining the boat photo before now. It is nowhere near a lake or river large enough for it to navigate and crash, it is just one of the many treasures left by the wayside...MD

    Yes Sir...Kenny G

We had a blast. We just like to ride.
Nothing fancy or too technical as you can see in the photos. As a matter of fact most would be bored to tears, but that's alright we are not in it for any trophies or to break any records...MD
